The football club "Dynamo" (Kyiv) announced changes in the coaching staff. After an unsuccessful performance in the Conference League, where the team lost to "Omonia" from Cyprus with a score of 2:0, the decision was made to dismiss head coach Oleksandr Shovkovskyi and his team.

Interim head coach appointed Ihor Kostiuk, who previously led the "Dynamo" U19 team. This decision was made in light of the need for urgent transformations in the club's structure, as the capital club is concerned about its performance in the Ukrainian Premier League (UPL), where "Dynamo" currently occupies seventh place with 20 points, which is an unsatisfactory result.

History of the coach's dismissal

It should be noted that under Shovkovskyi's leadership, "Dynamo" lost three consecutive matches in the domestic championship for the second time in history. Specifically, recently the Kyiv team lost to "Koloss" with a score of 2:0. These results prompted the club to decide on changes in the coaching staff in hopes of improving results.

Candidates for the head coach position

Former "Dynamo" coach Yozhef Sabо expressed his opinion about possible next steps for the club regarding the appointment of a new head coach. He believes that club legend Maksym Shatskikh, who is the all-time top scorer in UPL history, could become a potential candidate for the position.

"Perhaps there has been a discussion with Shatskikh, as he has experience and the same love for the club as all of us," Sabо noted. He expressed concern about the possibility of inviting foreign coaches, as the situation in Ukraine is complicated, and the financial costs for such specialists could be significant.

The club's management promises to remain in contact with fans and assess the situation. The upcoming matches will be important for Ihor Kostiuk, who will need to prepare the team for new challenges.
