Today, December 4, hourly power outages continue in Ukraine. "Ukrenergo" reports that electricity will be turned off throughout the day according to a schedule, which includes from 0.5 to 3 shifts. The reason for these measures is the massive shelling by Russian troops, which has significantly affected the country's energy infrastructure.
Outage Schedules
According to the latest data, hourly electricity outage schedules are in effect in Ukraine for residential consumers, specifically:
- From 00:00 to 23:59 – electricity will be turned off in shifts from 0.5 to 3.
- Also from 00:00 to 23:59 – power restrictions have been implemented for industrial consumers.
In this regard, Ukrainians are urged to use electricity sparingly, especially after the restoration of power supply.
Challenges in the Energy System
According to Nikolai Kolisnyk, Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine, the situation in the energy system due to shelling is quite complicated. The main complication lies in the transmission of available electricity between regions.
Currently, nine nuclear power plant units are in operation, and there is 2.1 GW of capacity available for electricity import. However, as Kolisnyk notes, managing electricity consumption is significantly complicated due to the shelling, which has affected key facilities.
Hourly outage schedules are being implemented in Ukraine, affecting both residential consumers and industry. Depending on the region, the volumes of restrictions vary: in the west – up to two shifts, in the south and center – up to three, and in the north and east – three.
Experts and officials again emphasize the importance of rational electricity usage during this difficult time.
