In the night and morning of February 7, the Lviv region experienced a large-scale attack caused by missiles and combat drones. According to Maksym Kozytskyi, the head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, critical energy infrastructure facilities were under targeted attack.
It was noted that some drones and at least two missiles were shot down by air defense forces. However, the attack caused significant damage. Kozytskyi emphasized that “during the alarm, which lasted more than six hours, facilities of critical energy infrastructure were affected.”
Energy Situation
Due to the successful attack on energy facilities, over 600,000 subscribers in the Lviv region were left without electricity. Kozytskyi urged residents of the region to charge vital devices, as power outages could last for an indefinite period. Additionally, in the village of Dobrotvir, six thousand residents found themselves without water and heat.
Currently, all relevant services are working to restore supply. In the village of Staryi Dobrotvir, a fire occurred in a residential building as a result of the attack, which was extinguished by rescuers. Fortunately, no information about injured or deceased individuals has been reported.
Further Actions
The head of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, urged caution and encouraged preparation for possible prolonged outages. According to information from Ukrenergo, the attacks affected eight regions, causing a serious power deficit in the energy grid.
It is now essential to be prepared for further losses in electricity supply and to heed the recommendations of local authorities.
