The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, informed about alarming intelligence data regarding potential Russian attacks on strategic objects of the country's energy system.

According to the head of state, during a report by the Chief of the Main Intelligence Directorate Oleh Ivashchenko, information was disclosed about Russia's preparation of strikes on Ukrainian energy infrastructure, particularly on nuclear power plant substations.

Intelligence Information Details

The President emphasized that the Russian side does not demonstrate readiness to end the war. Moreover, intelligence has recorded plans for attacks on facilities and networks serving Ukraine's nuclear power plants.

The Main Intelligence Directorate reported that as of mid-January, Russia conducted reconnaissance of at least 10 strategic facilities in 9 regions of Ukraine. The goal of such actions is to disconnect nuclear power plant energy blocks from the unified energy system and create large-scale electricity supply problems.

President's Reaction

Zelenskyy stressed that each strike on energy infrastructure during a harsh winter weakens the efforts of key countries, including the USA, to end the war.

"Ukraine is maximally constructive in diplomacy, Russia is focused only on strikes and humiliating people," the president stated.
