This morning, December 23, the Khmelnytskyi region suffered an attack by Russian military forces. As a result of the shelling, a 72-year-old man who was in his own yard in Shepetivka was killed. As reported by Serhiy Tyurin, head of the Khmelnytskyi Regional Military Administration, condolences are extended to his family and friends.
In addition to the tragic loss, the attacks also caused serious power supply disruptions in the communities of the region. Specialists are actively working on restoring electricity and have already managed to restore the distribution of electricity to over 37,500 consumers.
Official sources reported that during the shelling, windows in multi-story residential buildings were damaged, as well as one of the medical facility buildings in Shepetivka. Additionally, in Khmelnytskyi and Shepetivskyi districts, critical infrastructure objects and private residential houses were partially damaged.
Khmelnytskyi's air defense forces destroyed 22 unmanned aerial vehicles and three cruise missiles during the air raid alert. Rescue workers and law enforcement officers continue to work at the strike sites, documenting the consequences of the shelling.
A preliminary investigation into the death of the person has been initiated under the act of war crime, according to part 2 of article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Maximum attention is being given to the shelling sites to ensure quick recovery and return to normal life for the residents of the region.
